Legal

Terms of use

The agreement between you and AppLauncher. Last updated 21 September 2026.

1. Who these terms are between

They are between you and the operator of applauncher.dev. The legal entity and its registered address are being finalized and will be named here before paid submissions open. Using the site means you accept these terms. If you submit an app you also accept the submission terms in sections 3 to 8.

2. What the service is

AppLauncher is a curated directory. We review submitted apps against a published quality bar, schedule the ones that pass into a dated launch feed and keep them as permanent listings on category, platform and tag pages. We also publish free tools and editorial content. We may change, add or remove features, and we may stop the service, in which case we will give reasonable notice and refund anything paid for that has not been delivered.

3. What you promise when you submit

  • You have the right to submit the app and to grant the license in section 4.
  • You control the domain you submitted, or you are acting with the authority of whoever does.
  • What you write is accurate and not misleading, including pricing, platform support and feature claims.
  • Your logo, screenshots and text do not infringe anyone's rights, and your screenshots do not expose other people's personal data.
  • The app is live, usable and lawful in the places it is offered.

4. The license you give us

You keep ownership of everything you submit. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, adapt for formatting, and display your app name, logo, screenshots, descriptions and maker details on the site, in badge embeds, in our newsletter, in feeds such as RSS, and in social posts about your launch. The license lasts while the listing is published and, for archival copies and cached feeds, a reasonable period afterwards. You can withdraw a listing at any time, which ends the license going forward.

5. Editorial control

We decide what gets published. We may approve, request changes to, reject, quarantine, reclassify, edit for clarity and house style, merge as a duplicate, unlist or remove any submission or listing. Rejections and change requests name a reason code from the published list on the submission guidelines page.

Editorial review applies identically at every price. Paying does not make approval more likely and does not change the review criteria.

6. Paid tiers, refunds and invoices

  • Paid tiers are one-time charges. Nothing renews and there is no subscription.
  • Payment is taken through Stripe. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that applies where you are, which is shown before you pay.
  • If we reject your submission, you get a full refund, automatically. The confirmation arrives in the same email as the reason code. You do not have to ask.
  • Once a listing has been published, the service you bought has been delivered, so the price is not refundable except where the law says otherwise or where we failed to deliver something specific you paid for, such as a placement window we did not run.
  • You can request an invoice with your company details at any time through the contact form.
  • Starting a chargeback instead of contacting us first may result in the listing being unlisted while it is resolved.

7. Cancellation rights for consumers

If you are a consumer in the UK or the EU you normally have 14 days to cancel a digital service. Because review starts as soon as you submit, you are asked at checkout to agree that we begin immediately and to acknowledge that you lose the right to cancel once your listing is published. The refund rule in section 6 applies either way, and it is more generous than the statutory position in the case that matters most, which is a rejection.

8. Links, the dofollow attribute and the badge

Every outbound link starts as a nofollow redirect that appends a referral parameter. It becomes dofollow when one of three conditions is met: 10 upvotes during the launch window, a verified badge live and followed on your site, or an editorial pick. We may change the attribute on any listing at any time, including reverting it, and we do not sell the attribute as a product.

While your listing is published you may use the AppLauncher badge on your own site, in your README and in release notes, unmodified except for the size and theme options we provide, and it must link to your listing. If dofollow was earned through the badge and the badge is removed, we email you and give seven days before the attribute reverts. Removing a badge never removes your listing.

9. Votes, comments and promotion

You may tell anyone about your launch and ask them to look at your app and comment. You may not ask for, reward, buy, trade or automate upvotes, and you may not create extra identities. Breaking this removes the listing from the leaderboard, and repeat cases get the vote manipulation reason code and a ban from the free queue. Comments must be on topic and civil, and we remove those that are not.

10. Acceptable use of the site

Do not attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorized access to the service. Do not bulk-scrape the directory outside what robots.txt allows or bypass rate limits. Do not submit through automation. Do not use the site to distribute malware or to deceive people. We may block addresses, domains and email addresses that do.

11. Our content and yours

The compilation of the directory, the taxonomy, editorial write-ups, guides, tools, site design and the AppLauncher name and badge are ours. You may quote short extracts of our editorial content with attribution and a link. Listing content belongs to the makers who submitted it. Third-party names and logos on this site belong to their owners and appear for identification, not as an endorsement in either direction.

12. No endorsement, no warranty

A listing means an app cleared our published bar on the day it was reviewed. It is not a security audit, a privacy assessment, a recommendation or a guarantee that the app still works. Judge any app on its own merits before you install it or give it data. The site is provided as is and as available, without warranties to the fullest extent the law allows.

13. Liability

We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing here affects a consumer's statutory rights. Beyond that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost revenue or lost data, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

14. Indemnity

If someone brings a claim against us because of something you submitted, for example that it infringes their rights or misleads people, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of dealing with it. This does not apply to a claim caused by our own editorial changes.

15. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or remove a listing, or block a submitter, for breaking these terms, for vote manipulation, for an app that stops working or goes offline, or where we are legally required to. You may ask for your listing to be unlisted at any time. Removed listings return a not-found response or redirect to the relevant category.

16. Changes to these terms

We will update the date at the top when these change. For changes that materially affect people with live listings or unfulfilled paid orders, we will tell them by email first. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.

17. Governing law

The governing law and the courts that have jurisdiction depend on the legal entity, which is being finalized, and will be stated here before paid submissions open. Consumers keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country they live in.

18. Contact

Questions about these terms go through the contact form with the subject "Privacy or legal".
